Food by Lovie's mission is to prepare delicious wholesome food and to explore our relationship with others and the world through the lens of food. Food by Lovie will educate, inform and provide skills to people who want to broaden their knowledge of cooking. We will create and environment that makes everyone we work with regardless of gender, race or color, feel warm and welcome.
My Story
Lamour Workman has always had a passion for food. Growing up in southern Connecticut, both of her parent loved cooking, exploring and sharing all types of foods with her and her four other siblings. She remembers her Dad driving to Little Italy for fresh basil. It was for an “authentic” pizza that her Mom was attempting to make. That fervor and desire to prepare food with the upmost integrity would traits that Lamour would take into the kitchen.
Although she earned a bachelor of science in communications, Lamour has always known that she would have a career in the food arena.
Upon graduating from college and spending a few years working in advertising on Madison Avenue, the allure of the kitchen continued to fill here heart and mind. So, she decided to good back to school. After graduating from Culinary School, she chose to hone her skill by working in France. When she returned to New York, she worked at some of the City’s finest restaurants/hotels- Waldorf Astoria’s Peacock Alley and Four Season’s Hotel’s Fifty Seven-Fifty Seven. She is an American Culinary Federation, Certified Executive Chef. This is one of the Federation’s highest designations.
Her love of flavors and eclectic cuisine is the result of years of study in various cooking styles including Southern, Southwestern, French, Spanish, Italian, Indian, Asian, North African, Latin American and Caribbean.
She resides in Queens, and enjoys preparing delicious meals for friends and family.
